From an equity perspective, it's incredibly important for all staff to be able to pronounce a child's name correctly; that effort goes a long way toward making a child feel at home and welcomed. Sometimes, if that name is unfamiliar, or from another culture, it takes time for staff to learn it. But being responsible for saying your own name over and over so that people say it correctly is exhausting. But if we as a staff can return to TC, to hear a recording of the name pronounced correctly, without putting the burden on the child, that would be wonderful. One of our staff members came from a traditional school that had that feature added to it's database, and it went a long way toward creating an atmosphere of respect and inclusion.
